Anonymous. AR Early denarius (so far referred as 'didrachm'), uncertain mint (Tarentum?), 272-271 BC (?). Obv. Head of Roma right, wearing Phrygian helmet; behind, star. Rev. Victory right, attaching wreath to palm-branch; behind, ROMANO; before HH. Cr. 22/1; HN Italy 295; RRSC E 4. AR. 6.48 g. 19.50 mm. RR. Very rare and brilliant example. Pleasant light tone. Slightly porous surface on obverse. A superb example for a great collection. EF.
