Greek Italy. Southern Apulia, Tarentum. AR Nomos, c. 315-302 BC. Obv. Warrior, holding shield and two spears, preparing to cast a third, on horseback right; star on rump of horse; ΣA below. Rev. Phalanthos, holding kantharos and trident, riding dolphin left; AP monogram to left; below, dolphin left. HN Italy 937; Vlasto 600-604; Fischer-Bossert Group 70. AR. 7.81 g. 21.00 mm. Superb, brilliant and lightly toned, golden hues. Encapsulated by Classical Coin Grading MS 60.
