Commodus as Caesar, (166 -177). AE Sestertius. Struck under Marcus Aurelius, 177 AD. Obv. L AVREL COMMODVS AVG GERM SARM. Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev. IVNONI SISPITAE TR P II IMP II COS P P S C. Juno Sospita, wearing a goatskin cap, advancing right, brandishing javelin and holding shield; in front, snake. RIC III (M. Aurel.) 1583; Cf. C. 271 (Fr.15). AE. 28.51 g. 33.50 mm. Rare and choice. Minor traces of smoothing. Lovely deep olive green brown patina. Good VF.
