Greek Italy. Southern Apulia, Tarentum. AR Nomos, c. 490-480 BC. Obv. Phalanthos on dolphin right, left hand extended, holding cuttle fish in right hand; below, TAPA. Rev. TAPA (retrograde). Sea horse right; below, pecten. HN Italy 827; Vlasto 119 (same rev. die); SNG ANS 837. AR. 7.96 g. 22.00 mm. R. Rare and fascinating issue, overstruck, perhaps on a Didrachm from Akragas. Dark patina. Good VF.
