Anonymous. AR Denarius, 115-114 BC. Obv. Helmeted head of Roma right, wearing winged Corinthian helmet; behind, X and below, ROMA. Rev. Roma seated right on pile of shields, holding spear in left hand; at her feet, helmet; before, she-wolf suckling twins; on either side, bird flying. Cr. 287/1. AR. 3.87 g. 10.00 mm. A superb example, well centred on a broad flan, from masterly engraved dies. Bright and lightly toned. About EF.
