M. Nonius Sufenas. AR Denarius, 59 BC. Obv. Head of Saturn right; before, SVFENAS; behind, harpa, conical stone and SC. Rev. PR. L. V. P. F. Roma seated left being crowned by Victory who stands behind her; in exergue, SEX. NONI. Cr. 421/1; B. 1. AR. 3.66 g. 18.00 mm. A choice example, well centred and prettily toned, with light golden hues. About EF. Sextus Nonius, possibly the moneyer's father, in BC 81 inaugurated the Ludi Victoriae Sullanae, in honour of Sulla's victory at the Colline gate. (RSC I, p. 69).
