Theophilus (829-842). AV Tremissis, Syracuse mint. Obv. ΘEOFILOS. Bust facing with short beard, wearing crown and chlamys, and holding globus cruciger. Rev. ΘEOFILOS. Bust facing with short beard, wearing crown and loros and holding gobus cruciger. D.O. 20; Sear 1679. AV. 1.86 g. 12.50 mm. Sound metal and full weight. A superb example, lightly toned, with reddish hues. EF.
