Constantius II (337-361). AV Solidus, Nicomedia mint, 340-350 AD. Obv. FL IVL CONSTANTIVS PERP AVG. Pearl and rosette-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev. GLORIA REIPVBLICAE. Roma and Constantinopolis enthroned, holding between them a shield inscribed VOT/XX/MVLT/XXX; Constantinopolis holding sceptre and resting right foot on prow and Roma holding spear; in exergue, SMNT. RIC VIII 33 (R3). AV. 4.57 g. 21.50 mm. RR. Very rare. Brilliant and superb, with underlying luster. Almost invisible graffito on emperor's neck, otherwise virtually as struck. Good EF.
