M. Nonius Sufenas. AR Denarius, 59 BC. Head of Saturn right; before, SVFENAS; behind, harpa, conical stone and SC. / PR. L. V. P. F. Roma seated left being crowned by Victory who stands behind her; in exergue, SEX. NONI. Cr. 421/1. B. 1. AR. 4.01 g. 18.00 mm. Great metal and full weight. An outstanding example in exceptional condition, virtually as struck. About FDC. Sextus Nonius, possibly the moneyer's father, in BC 81 inaugurated the Ludi Victoriae Sullanae, in honour of Sull's victory at the Colline gate. (RSC I, p. 69).
