Description

AN INSCRIBED PHOENICIAN GLAZED FAIENCE POMEGRANATE ARYBALLOS Iron age II, 7th-6th century BCE. 5.4 cm high, 5.5 cm in diameter. With seven petals crown, shallow vertical indentations in the body and two very small pierced handles. The Phoenician inscription on the shoulder (under the glaze), read: l'štrt ”For / Belonging to Astarte”. With a vertical old crack but in very good condition. Very rare. Ex Shlomo Moussaieff collection, Herzliya Pituah. (Non exportable)
