ROMAN BRONZE STATUETTE OF MERCURY

Ca. AD 100 - 300 A Roman detailed cast bronze statue of the god Mercury. He is represented standing in a counterpois position with stylised muscles. Mercury is depicted wearing a winged petasos and a chlamys that is draped over his shoulders and one of his arms. The figure is also holding a large patera in his right hand. Size: 80mm x 30mm; Weight: 125g
Provenance: Private UK collection; previously acquired on the Holland art market in the 1990s.
