COLLECTION OF ROMAN BRONZE BULLS
Ca. AD 100 - 300 A collection of three Roman bronze statuettes of bulls. The first bull, on the left, is stylised standing on four legs with a large muzzle and short frontal horns. The second bull features a thick neck and notched hooves. The animal is recumbent with a raised head that faces forward. A long tail loops over the back, resting on the body's left side. The animal has naturalistic features, including small, almond-shaped eyes, flaring nostrils and a curling mane. There is a protruding hoop on the back of the bull's head, possibly used for suspension or mounting in combination with the tail loop. The third bull is an applique or pendant with a square base and protruding bull's head made in a naturalistic manner with a large forehead and two curved frontal horns.
