GANDHARAN STONE STELE DEPICTING THE TWIN MIRACLE

Ca. AD 200 - 300 A stone carving depicting the scene of the Twin Miracle, also known as Miracle at Savatthi. This piece captures and celebrates the scene. Buddha is shown with fire eminating from his shoulders and water spouting from his feet, flanked by two worshipping figures on each side, and meditating figure below the pedestal.

Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in the early 2000s in France; previously in 1970s European collection. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
