URARTIAN RED STONE STAMP CYLINDER SEAL - ORIGINAL LAMBERT REPORT
Ca. 800 - 650 BC An ancient red stone Urartian stamp seal. The seal has a wide base and is surmounted by a handle pierced for a string or wire. The handle and upper parts of the base are decorated with grooves and lines. The design on the base has a winged bull facing a bird with a scorpion's tail. A walking ibex is shown with wings, and two Urartian hieroglyphs. Accompanied by a signed scholarly note by Professor Wilfrid George Lambert.

Provenance: Property of a London gallery; formerly with a Mayfair Art dealer S.A.; Ex. 1990s London collections, studied and catalogued by professor Lambert in the early 90s (with original note, signed by him). Previously in an old British collection formed since the 1960s.
