GREEK BRONZE FIGURINES OF DOG AND STAG
Ca. 800 - 700 BC A pair of cast bronze figurines depicting a dog and a stag with characteristically abstract geometric shapes. The minimalist figures stand upon four sturdy legs with a slender plank and a long tail extending from the back. Their necks project from the body, and terminate in tapered snouts and perky ears. Zoomorphic representations from this period are generally small in scale. Votive animal figurines were often placed in temples or shrines and deposited in religious sites.
