TALL EGYPTIAN ALABASTER ALABASTRON
Late Period - Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 664 - 30 BC An Egyptian tall, slender alabastron hand-carved from alabaster of white and light yellow hues. The elongated vessel features a rounded base, a tapered neck, and a discoid rim surrounding a small mouth. Aristocratic Egyptian women commissioned vessels like this to use as storage containers for scented oils or perfumes during bathing. For similar see: Liverpool Museum Accession number 56.22.548.
