Description

SET OF EGYPTIAN FAIENCE AMULETS

Third Intermediate Period - Late Period, Ca. 1069 - 332 BC An ensemble of five mould-formed faience amulets covered in lustrous layers of pale green or turquoise glaze. The first and the last represent the papyrus column, the second is a standing Thoth, the third depicts a stylised Bes and the fourth represents Taweret. Size: 19-35mm x 4.5-15mm; Weight: 11.6g
Provenance: Property of a London gallery; previously in a collection of a North London gentleman; formerly in a collection of Mrs B. Ellison, a deceased former member of the Egyptian Exploration Fund, bought from the 1940s, Cairo and London.
