EGYPTIAN SCARAB OF FAWN STONE
Ca.1700 - 1550 BC An Egyptian steatite scarab. The beetle rests on a low base, and the object is pierced front to back. A "rope" begins at each end, intertwining with one other rope. It has a scroll pattern on the base, with a ka-sign, representing vital essence. On the back only the head of the beetle is depicted, while only the beginning of the wings are demarcated.
