ROMAN BRONZE RING WITH RED JASPER INTAGLIO DEPICTING JUPITER

Ca. AD 100 - 300 A Roman bronze ring with a red jasper portrait intaglio of Jupiter. The ring is a round hoop with D-section widening to form the bezel. Jupiter is seen in profile wearing an extremely stylised laurel crown. In Roman mythology, Jupiter was the King of the Gods and the God of the Sky and Thunder.
