ROMAN GLASS DOUBLE BALSAMARIUM
Ca. 100-200 AD
A double balsamarium with two conjoined tubular phials and delicate glass thread on the exterior. The handles are applied on the body, and form a tight wave pattern before being attached to the rim. Vessels such as this one held precious ointments and oils and are emblematic of the technical prowess of Roman glass-blowers in the Imperial period.
