WESTERN ASIATIC BRONZE HELMET AND TORC

Mesopotamia, Assyria, Ca. 800-700 BC
A non-deformed bronze helmet with two tongue-shaped cheek guards and pectoral. The helmet is formed of a hammered sheet that is conical in shape, tapering sharply to a tall point. The bronze torc is also conical in shape, with long plates to sit on owners collar. It is decorated with three cylindrical circles in shape of mounds.
