A copper inlaid brass dish with a broad and flat base, accompanied by low straight walls that gracefully ascend to a flattened rim. The rim itself bears intricate incised decorations, featuring rectangular panels interspersed with small roundels. The bottom of the basin is a focal point with a composition that centres around a walking feline encircled by a band of intricate decor. The Seljuks, a dynasty that reigned from the 11th to the 13th century, fostered a vibrant cultural atmosphere where metalworking thrived. Metal artisans employed their skills to create a wide range of functional and decorative objects, showcasing their mastery of techniques such as casting, engraving, and incising.
