Ca. 1200 AD.
A glass ewer in a distinctive greenish tone. This vessel boasts a bell-shaped lower body distinguished by an intricate facetted adornment, gracefully converging into a delicately flattened base. The short neck of the ewer culminates in a distinctive thistle head-shaped mouth, evoking a sense of organic elegance. An applied handle connects the shoulder and mouth of the vessel. A small thumb rest on the handle reflects ergonomics in design. Glass ewers of this kind in the Islamic world carried both utilitarian and symbolic significance, being vessels for holding and dispensing liquids, often utilized in ceremonial and social contexts.
