Ca. 500-400 BC.
A pottery krater features a rounded body with a broad funnel-shaped neck, exuding a graceful aesthetic. Notably, loop handles are positioned around the midsection of the main body, accompanied by a pair of rectangular-section lugs, providing practical and decorative elements to the vessel's design. The ochre-painted registers of linear decor further enhance the visual appeal of this vessel. Daunian ceramic production flourished in ancient Apulia, in what is now modern-day southern Italy, during the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. Daunian pottery, known for its distinctive styles and motifs, played a significant role in the artistic and cultural landscape of the region. The production of Daunian ceramics was influenced by Greek and indigenous Italic traditions, resulting in a unique fusion of styles and techniques.
