HELLENISTIC SILVER VASE WITH WINGED PUTTI PICKING GRAPES DESIGN

A sheet silver piriform vase with discoid base, carinated shoulder, tall neck and flared rim with small pouring lip; parcel-gilt band of grapevine ornament with pointillé borders, similar band to the shoulder with profile putti. Cf. A very similar piece from the Hermitage collection, published in the catalog: "Ancient Artistic Silver from the Hermitage". Leningrad, 1985, p. 30, described as Hellenistic, 3rd century BC, Attic, discovered in 1838.
