MEDIEVAL EUROPEAN BOLLOCK DAGGER WITH HANDLE
Ca. 1300-1500 AD
An interesting iron and wooden dagger with a lengthy blade and a thick handle. The wood covers the tang, forming a round pommel, gripping surface, and a downward pointed guard. The blade is sharpened on one side, with a blunt thick edge, and a pointed tip. This dagger is large but a stealthy defense weapon which was often carried at the right hip, and although used by civilians during this period, they were primarily used in close combat by nobles and common soldiers. For a similar, see The Royal Armouries Collections, accession number: X.601.
