GREEK SILVER FIBULA

Ca. 5th-4th century BC
A silver fibula with a coiled pin and an arched body, terminating in a rectangular catch plate that curves upwards, creating a trumpet-shaped finial, adding an elegant finishing touch to the overall design. Fibulas were a common type of clothing fastener used in the ancient Mediterranean world and were popular throughout various eras of ancient Greek history. The Greek fibulas ranged in design from simple and functional to highly ornate and decorative, reflecting the wearer's social status and the fashion trends of the time.
