Description

CHINESE WOODEN HORSE IN HAN STYLE

Qing Dynasty
A wooden horse from the Qing Dynasty, crafted in the esteemed Han style. This equine masterpiece exudes grandeur, with a beautiful chestnut coat and an enchanting upward gaze that captivates the viewer. Standing tall and proud, the horse's mouth is open, revealing intricately carved teeth that showcase the artistry of the maker. The masterful carving of this equine is evident, with the body hewn from a single block of wood, while the neck, head, and legs are separate, adding to the realism of the piece. The horse's eyes are adorned with black paint, accentuating their lifelike quality, while the short and neatly trimmed mane adds to the overall elegance of the sculpture. The arching neck and muscular body of the horse are testament to the skill and attention to detail of the artist. The majestic animal's black hooves are both sturdy and striking, while the vivid red painted decorative saddle adds a pop of color, enhancing the already impressive appearance of the sculpture. In the Han era, wooden horses were considered a form of art, and artisans would often dedicate years of their lives to perfecting their craft. The horse was a symbol of power and mobility, and it was believed that owning a beautifully crafted wooden horse would bring prosperity and good fortune to its owner.
