POLISH OR GERMAN LOBSTERTAIL HELMET
Ca. 17th century AD
Round one-piece skull with nice traces of hammering. Horizontal visor, fixed to the skull with rivets. Hole for the face guard, adjusted with a screw. The top or the face guard ends with flame – shape flat end, bottom – with rivet, restricting taking out of the guard. Cheek guards of an interesting shape, with eight holes. Neck guard from three movable lames. Unusual helmet, most probably belonging to 17th-century hussars of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, but also could be of German origin.
