HUGE ETRUSCAN POTTERY CYLINDRICAL VESSEL - 40CM
Ca. 600-500 BC.
A pottery vessel of alabastron type with elongated, narrow body and rounded bottom. It was typically used for storing oil, perfume, or unguents. This type of vessel was popular throughout the Greco-Roman world, and was highly prized for its elegant design and ornate decoration.
Size: L:400mm / W:60mm ; 800g
Provenance: Property of a London gallery, acquired on the US art market; formerly in private NJ. collection, acquired 1950s-1960s. By descent to family.
