ROMAN GRYLLOS INTAGLIO GOLD RING

A gold finger ring composed of a slender round hoop with an applied bezel cell set with a stone intaglio engraved with gryllos - a grotesque combination. A creature consists of a clean-shaven male, facing left, and an equine protome with a curly mane. For a comparison see The British Museum, Museum number 1913,0307.101.
