DAUNIAN POTTERY JAR
Ca. Late 6th/early 5th century BC.
A beautiful Daunian jar with a rounded body tapering to a cylindrical neck, an everted tubular rim, and a high looped strap 'horned' handle. The body is decorated with a lower band of spaced meander motifs, two solid dark brown bands, another meander band, and a band with alternating lozenge and meander motifs flanked by two further solid dark brown bands. The inner rim is decorated with red and dark brown curvilinear and circular motifs. The handle is decorated with concentric brown lozenges on front and back.
