Ca. 2000 BC. A clay cuneiform tablet in a light brown fabric with a written script on both sides. Cuneiform (from cuneus, Latin for "wedge") writing, which derives its name from the distinctive shape of its letters, is one of the earliest forms of writing and developed in ancient Mesopotamia in the 4th millennium BC. Size: L:60mm / W:75mm ; 150g Provenance: Property of a London collector, acquired from a London Ancient Art dealer; formerly in a collection of a deceased gentleman circa 1988 by descent to the family.
