RARE PARTHIAN PANTHER PROTOME
Ca. 200 BC - 300 AD. A bronze tubular finial with a ribbed collar, and a shaft widening at one end to form a schematic panther protome. The animal's head features incised mane and mouth as well ears protruding ears and almond-shaped eyes in relief. Size: L:70mm / W:40mm ; 68g Provenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1980s.
