DION at ATHOS. City in the gulf of Athos and a satellite (city) of Akanthos. Akanthos has been a city of
enormous influence and had a huge coin production. Since the 7th century BC. she colonized the
surrounding region and especially the gold-bearing zone of the Pangaion mountain! The thematology of her
coins spread there, as well as anywhere else she had influence over. She did the exact same thing, as Corinth
had done with her colonies!
