★ The infamous “horn” again ★
Elagabalus (218-222), AR Denarius, issued 220-222. Rome, 3.20g, 20mm.
Obv: IMP ANTONINVS PIVS AVG; Horned, laureate, draped and bearded bust right.
Rev: INVICTVS SACERDOS AVG; Elagabalus, in Syrian priestly robes, standing half left, sacrificing holding patera in right hand over lighted altar, a club or cypress in his left hand. A recumbent bull sits behind the altar, star in left field.

The horn silver does not detract at all; perhaps it is quite suitable for a horned portrait!
