Anonymous (attributed to Romanus III). Ca. 1028-1034. AE follis (33.18 mm, 14.09 g, 6 h). Constantinople. +EMMANOVHL, IC-XC, bust of Christ facing with nimbate cross behind head, square in each limb of nimbus cross, holding book of gospels / IS-XS / BAS-ILE / BAS-ILE, legend divided by cross set upon three steps. SBCV 1823; DOC 676. VF for type, nice, smooth patina.
