Obv.: Inscription in 4 lines, + K(YΡI)ERΟ/ΗΘΕΙΩ(ΑΝΝΗ)/[R,C]ΠΑΘΑΡΟ/[Κ]ΑΝΔ(Ι)Δ(ΑΤΩ) = Κύριε, βοήθει Ἰωάννῃ βασιλικῷ σπαθαροκανδιδάτῳ (Lord, help John imperial spatharokandidatos), all within dotted border.
Rev.: Inscription in 5 lines, ΧΑΡ[ΤΟΥ]/ΛΑΡ(ΙΩ)ΤΟΥ[ΓΕ]/ΝΙΚΟΥΛ[Ο]/[Γ]ΟΘΕC[Ι]/ΟΥ = χαρτουλαρίῳ τοῦ Γενικοῦ Λογοθεσίου (chartoularios of the Genikon Logothesion), all within dotted border.
John, the owner of the present seal, was a high-ranking bureaucrat of the Genikon Logothesion, the fiscal department of the empire.
