Parthian Gold Earring Pair
3rd-1st century BC. An elaborate matched pair of gold earrings, each a penannular hoop with hinged dangle, rectangular cell with iridescent glass insert, two wire rods flanking a crescent cell with inset garnet cabochon, wire rod with granule collars and two teardrop garnet cabochons with wires beneath. 9.90 grams total, 58mm (2 1/4"). From an important North West London collection; previously with Bonhams, New Bond Street, London, 1 May 2013, lot 235; formerly in a private UK collection, acquired in the 1970s; accompanied by a copy of the relevant Bonhams catalogue pages.
