Phoenician Gold and Glass Bead String
1st millennium BC and later. A restrung necklace composed of alternating globular gold beads and glass 'eye' beads, central element of glass comic face bead, gold pendant with three plaited chain dangles below, two with fan-shaped stone beads, one with gold bead. 140 grams, 40cm (15 3/4"). Property of a Mayfair lady; formerly in an important London collection formed since 1965.
