Description

15th-16th century A.D.. The shoulders fashioned as beast-heads, flared disc bezel with border and enigmatic 'IOLE' inscription surmounted by a six-pointed star. Cf. Chadour, A.B., Rings. The Alice and Louis Koch Collection, volume I, Leeds, 1994, item 643, for type. 5.70 grams, 24.13 mm overall, 17.40 mm internal diameter (approximate size British N 1/2, USA 6 3/4, Europe 14.35, Japan 13) (1 in.).

Ex German art market, 2000s. Acquired from an EU collector living in London. From the collection of Surrey, UK, gentleman. [No Reserve]
