Lower Palaeolithic Period, circa 1000,000-500,000 B.P.. Substantial triangular-section handaxe with broad rounded butt. See Cranshaw, S., Handaxes and Cleavers: Selected English Acheulian Industries, BAR British Series 113, Oxford, 1983, pl.9. 433 grams, 13.9 cm (5 1/2 in.).

From the British art market in the 1970s-1980s. Acquired via inheritance, 1988. From the collection of a South West London, UK, specialist Stone Age collector. [No Reserve]
