Description

Post-Sassanian Bronze Ewer
8th-10th century A.D. With waisted neck piriform body with trumpet-shaped base; scrolled handle with pellet thumb-pad, the spout a bull's head with crescent horns. Cf. similar but earlier example in the collection of the British Museum under accession no.1866,1229.5. 286 grams, 16.5 cm (6 1/2 in.).
