Ancient Greek Coins - Macedonia - Alexander III (the Great) - Countermarked Zeus AR Tetradrachm
195-194 B.C. Aspendos, Pamphylia mint, posthumous issue, dated year 18. Obv: head of Herakles right, wearing lionskin headdress; Seleukid anchor countermark on cheek. Rev: ALEXANDROY legend with Zeus seated left, right leg drawn back, holding eagle and sceptre; AS over IH in left field. Price 2897; Müller 1210; Mektepini hoard 575-577; SNG Cop 771. 15.82 grams.
