Vintage Standard Oil Company (Indiana) Service Enamelled Sign 20th century A.D. A circular and slightly domed enamelled iron Standard Oil Company sign with four fixing holes at edge; enamelled in blue, red and yellow with the reverse counter-enamelled in black. 896 grams, 29.5 cm diameter (11 5/8 in.). Property of a Nottinghamshire gentleman. The chipping to the front suggests that this sign may have been used for air rifle target practice; a common practice among boys as the bullet impacts would provide a satisfying 'clang' sound.
