British Iron Age Brigantian Terret Ring Late 1st century B.C. A terret ring composed of a sub-triangular attachment bar flanked by circular stops and tapering round-section body. 38.6 grams, 54 mm (2 1/8 in.). Found near Scarborough, Yorkshire, 1994. Terret rings were used as rein guides on chariots or carts used during the Late Iron Age to Early Roman period. They were set in a line along the yoke and five terrets were usually used per chariot.
