Description

Chinese Han Terracotta Hu Late 3rd century A.D. A terracotta quintuple spouted hu vessel, the central hu-shaped neck bearing an incised horizontal line on the shoulders, the lower body incised with two more sets of incised lines. Cf. Mino, Y., Tsiang, K., Ice and Green Clouds: traditions of Chinese Celadon, Indiana, 1987, p.77, fig.24f. 3.14 kg, 28.5 cm high (11 1/4 in.). Acquired 1980s-1990s. Collection of Mr H. N., Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire, UK. Accompanied by an old dealer's catalogue ticket with references. Vases with similar shaped spouted mouths clustered around the neck were found in the grave number 12 at Gufang near Jinhua, Zhejiang. Some authors noted that such multi-spouted vases derived from the jars of the late Han Period. [No Reserve]
