Description

Macedonia - Alexander III (the Great) - AR Tetradrachm. 311-305 B.C. Posthumous issue, struck under Seleukos I Nikator, Babylon I mint. Obv: head of Herakles right wearing lionskin headdress. Rev: BASILEWS ALEXANDROY beneath and to right of Zeus seated left, holding eagle and sceptre; MI above bipennis in left field, MTR monogram (with dot in the R) in wreath beneath chair. Price 3753; Müller 747. 17.07 grams. Ex UK private collection.
