Macedonia - Alexander III (the Great) - Countermarked AR Tetradrachm. 194-193 B.C. Posthumous issue. Aspendos, Pamphylia mint, dated year 19. Obv: head of Herakles right, wearing lionskin headdress. Rev: ALEXANDROY legend with Zeus seated left, right leg drawn back, holding eagle and sceptre; AS over I ? in left field; Seleukid countermark to reverse. Price 2898; Mueller 1211; Mektepini hoard 578-580. 16.10 grams. Ex UK private collection.
