Medal. Silver. Undated (1772). Oval 39 by 33 mm. 22.16 gm. To Commemorate Mikhail Krechetnikov. Diakov 161 (R3), H-Cz 6111, Reichel 4475 (R4). A crowned woman holding a heart and map before an obelisk inscribed MK, radiant cipher of Catherine II shining above / Seventeen-line legend. Very rare. Toned Uncirculated. Mikhail Krechetnikov (1729-1793) was born into an ancient noble Russian family. He participated in the Seven Year and the First Turkish wars and was promoted to General-in-Chief. As a talented administrator, he achieved high social status, rising from governor of the town of Tver (1773) to deputy Viceroy in the towns of Kaluga and Tula (1776) then Steward of Malorossia in the Ukraine.
